Kids Fishing Mark Twain Lake
Mothers Day Weekend, my dad, buddy and I took our kids fishing while the mom's had time to themselves to relax at the cabin. Back in the 70's my parent's purchased some farm ground as they were looking to capture a piece of their own real estate getaway. I remember them asking my sis and I back then what we thought. I was a very excited young boy! The farmer we bought our acres from, told me I could hunt his entire farm. At that time real estate by Mark Twain Lake was not highly sought after and the price per acre you could find for $300-$500. Talks that Mark Twain Lake was going to be built floated around, but it was many years after that it actually became a reality and then is when we saw the price per acre jump to $1,500-$3,000.
When I was a kid, I fished the Salt River, which meant I had to hike down the hillsides over the creeks, to then be able to fish a pocket in the river. No sitting in the boat and picking up my fishing pole and for sure no covering miles and miles of the river, unless I was really feeling like an all day trip. Now my kids jump in the boat, get a ride to the lake where they are taken miles up and down to enjoy the fishing that Mark Twain Lake offers.
